Color magick
Did you know that not everyone sees color the same? Its true. Here’s a cool video from VSauce explaining the concept.
Okay, that might have gone further into how we each perceive color more than we needed to. But its really cool. Color can be broken down into three theories.
ROYGBIV: (Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Indigo-Violet) This the basic theory that we all learned in primary school. This is how most visual artists operate on. This is how most of us also know that if you add Red + Yellow = Orange. Like wise with Yellow + Blue = Green, etc. I can go into this a whole lot more, but I’ll spare you the long read. RGB: (Red-Green-Blue) This is what was used for a long time in tube style televisions. The screen had long series of three pixels of red, green & blue that repeated. CMYK: (Cyan- Magenta- Yellow-Black) This is what most printed media uses from the candy wrapper to the wraps on buses. This is mostly used by professional printers. Sometimes you might be able to see this color key on the packaging. If you break the cereal box down, meaning pulling the glued portions apart you might find it on the inside flap. We’re going to stick to the ROYGBIV theory. Because its what most of us know from school. We are going to look at the basic colors, white, black, gray & metallic (Gold, Silver, Platinum, Aluminum, Zinc, Copper, Brass & Bronze).
